- 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 cup reserved mushroom jerky soaking liquid
- 1/2 cup Black Forest Mushrooms Jerky, rehydrated and sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for creaminess)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish

- Place the jerky in a bowl and pour 1 cup of hot water over it. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes until soft. Drain and slice into thin strips. Reserve the soaking liquid for the soup.
